Mini Fragments Implants & Instruments Set, SKU PS-OP-02164, is a combined orthopedic implant and instrumentation system with stainless-steel mini-fragment plates, cortex screws and reusable surgical instruments for small-bone and mini-fragment fracture fixation. The configuration includes 1.5mm cortex screws in 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 16mm lengths; 2.0mm cortex screws from 6 to 20mm; and 2.7mm cortex screws from 6 to 24mm. The implant inventory contains 2.7mm quarter-tubular plates, left and right 2.7mm L plates, 2.7mm T plates, 2.0mm straight, L and T plates, and 1.5mm and 2.0mm condylar plates with left or right pins. The instrument configuration includes 0.8–1.6mm Kirschner wires, mini drill and tap sleeves, depth gauge, retractors, plate benders, screw-holding forceps, hollow mill, plate-holding forceps, reduction forceps, periosteal elevator, mini chisels, osteotomes, gouges, Hohmann retractors and 1.5mm and 2.5mm hexagonal screwdrivers. The set is intended for orthopedic and hand surgeons performing fixation of small bone fragments, metacarpal, phalangeal, distal radius and other mini-fragment fracture patterns in dedicated trauma and hand-surgery operating rooms.

Mini-Fragment Screw and Plate Interface

The system is built around small-diameter cortex screws and matching plate geometries designed for fixation where a conventional large-fragment construct would be excessive. The 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.7mm screw families provide progressively larger fixation interfaces, with screw length selected according to the measured bone path and plate position. The mini hexagonal screwdriver with 1.5mm tip engages the smaller screw interface, while the 2.5mm hexagonal screwdriver provides the larger interface used with compatible fixation components. The Mini Neutral & Loaded Drill Guide establishes controlled drilling through compatible plate holes and permits selection of neutral or loaded positioning. The Mini Drill Sleeve guides the drill, while the Mini Tap Sleeve maintains alignment for thread preparation. The Mini Depth Gauge determines the prepared screw-hole depth before implant selection. Plate geometry is supplied in straight, T, L, quarter-tubular and condylar configurations. The quarter-tubular plates provide a longitudinal contoured profile, while L and T plates provide shaped heads for localized fracture support. Condylar plates with left and right pins provide side-specific geometry for distal articular-region fixation. These interfaces allow the surgeon to select the implant geometry and screw diameter according to fragment size, bone location and fixation strategy.

Hand, Foot and Small-Bone Fracture Workflow

The Mini Fragments Implants & Instruments Set supports open reduction and internal fixation of small bone fragments where controlled reduction, plate positioning and small-diameter screw fixation are required. In hand surgery, the 1.5mm and 2.0mm screw systems can be used with compatible straight, T and L plates for selected phalangeal and metacarpal fracture patterns. The 2.7mm system provides a larger fixation interface for selected small-bone and distal upper-extremity constructs requiring greater plate dimensions. During reduction, Mini Reduction Forceps and Pointed Mini Reduction Forceps provide fragment control, while Mini Plate & Bone Holding Forceps maintain the relationship between the plate and bone. Mini Plate Holding Forceps secure the plate during drilling. The Mini Self-Retaining Retractor for Fingers provides focused exposure in digital procedures, while the two metacarpal retractors provide broader access for metacarpal fixation. The hinged metacarpal retractor allows adjustment of the working aperture during exposure. Kirschner wires from 0.8mm through 1.6mm support provisional fixation, fragment positioning and guide-wire techniques. Mini chisels, osteotomes and gouges provide controlled bone preparation when required. The plate bender pair permits contour adjustment of compatible plates before definitive screw fixation.

Screw Diameters, Plate Configurations and Surgical Selection

The 1.5mm cortex-screw inventory includes 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 16mm lengths, providing a fine range for small fragments and compact bone regions. The 2.0mm cortex-screw family includes 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20mm lengths for slightly larger fixation requirements. The 2.7mm cortex-screw family extends from 6 through 24mm and provides the largest screw interface in the set. The 2.7mm quarter-tubular plate group contains 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, 7- and 8-hole configurations, while left and right 2.7mm L plates and 2.7mm T plates address shaped fixation requirements. The 2.0mm straight plates are supplied in 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-hole versions, with left and right L plates and T plates completing the geometry range. The 2.0mm condylar plates are supplied with left and right pins, while the 1.5mm condylar plate configuration includes a left pin. Plate selection is based on fracture location, fragment dimensions, available bone stock, required plate span and anatomical orientation. Screw length is established using the Mini Depth Gauge after drilling. The Mini Screws Holding Forceps support controlled handling of 1.5mm and 2.0mm screws during insertion, while the Hollow Mill provides an extraction pathway for compatible screw removal.

Stainless Steel Construction, Sterilization and Procurement

The Mini Fragments Implants & Instruments Set combines stainless-steel implant components with reusable stainless-steel surgical instruments intended for professional orthopedic and hand-surgery environments. The screw and plate inventory is identified as stainless steel on the current product configuration, while the listed chisels, osteotomes, gouges, retractors, sleeves, forceps and screwdrivers are also specified as stainless steel. Reusable instruments should undergo point-of-use cleaning, decontamination, inspection, drying, packaging and validated sterilization according to applicable manufacturer instructions and the healthcare facility's sterile-processing protocol. Steam autoclave sterilization is appropriate for compatible reusable instruments when performed using a validated cycle. Implant plates and screws should remain protected in their sterile packaging and should be processed according to the validated instructions applicable to the implant system before clinical use. The Empty Container provides organized storage for the combined inventory. Peak Surgicals supports medical procurement with CE marking, ISO 13485 quality-management certification and FDA-compliant procurement support for applicable healthcare markets. The current product page lists the complete set at $1,264.43 USD with an MOQ of one set, making the configuration suitable for hospitals, orthopedic clinics, hand-surgery departments and medical distributors requiring mini-fragment implant and instrument inventory.

How does the Mini Fragments Implants & Instruments Set differ from a standard small-fragment set?
The Mini Fragments Implants & Instruments Set uses smaller 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.7mm fixation systems. It includes dedicated mini plates for hand and small-bone fixation. The set also contains finger and metacarpal retractors designed for restricted operative exposure. Mini reduction forceps and plate-holding instruments provide control at the smaller fragment scale. Standard small-fragment systems generally use larger 3.5mm or 4.0mm fixation interfaces. The mini configuration is therefore intended for smaller bone fragments where reduced implant dimensions are appropriate.

How should the 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.7mm screw systems be selected?
The 1.5mm system provides the smallest fixation interface in the set and is suited to very small fragments. The 2.0mm system provides an intermediate fixation diameter for small-bone constructs requiring a larger screw interface. The 2.7mm system provides the largest fixation interface and includes quarter-tubular, L and T plate configurations. Screw length is selected using the Mini Depth Gauge after preparation of the screw path. The plate geometry is selected according to the fracture location and available bone surface. Metacarpal and phalangeal fixation commonly requires the smaller systems, while selected larger small-bone fragments can use the 2.7mm configuration.

What do CE, ISO 13485 and FDA procurement support mean for this set?
The Mini Fragments Implants & Instruments Set is supplied within Peak Surgicals' medical-device quality and procurement framework. CE marking addresses applicable European conformity requirements. ISO 13485 relates to the manufacturer's medical-device quality-management system. FDA-compliant procurement support is relevant to applicable US healthcare purchasing workflows. Hospitals and distributors can use the associated regulatory documentation during supplier qualification and purchasing review. Implant procurement remains subject to the regulatory requirements applicable to the destination market and healthcare institution.

How do the Mini Drill Guide, plate benders and reduction forceps function during fixation?
The Mini Neutral & Loaded Drill Guide controls drill positioning through compatible plate holes. The Mini Drill Sleeve guides the drill while the Mini Tap Sleeve maintains the tapping trajectory. Mini Reduction Forceps and Pointed Reduction Forceps manipulate fracture fragments during reduction. Mini Plate-Holding Forceps maintain plate position during drilling and screw placement. The Mini Plate & Bone-Holding Forceps provide simultaneous control of the plate and bone. The Mini Plate Bender pair allows contour adjustment of compatible plates before definitive fixation.

How should hospitals handle sterilization and procurement of this combined set?
The Mini Fragments Implants & Instruments Set contains both reusable instruments and implant components. Reusable instruments should undergo cleaning, inspection, drying, packaging and validated sterilization according to the hospital's sterile-processing protocol and applicable manufacturer instructions. Steam autoclaving is used for compatible reusable stainless-steel instruments under a validated cycle. Plates and screws should remain protected and be processed according to the validated requirements applicable to the implant system before implantation. The Empty Container provides organized storage for the complete configuration. The set has an MOQ of one set and is suitable for orthopedic, trauma, hand-surgery and medical-distributor procurement.
