Fixed-appliance treatment runs as a repeating sequence: seat the band, adjust the wire, secure the ligature, remove the adhesive. Orthodontic hand instruments exist one per step. Peak Surgicals stocks ten patterns across those four functions, in German stainless steel and CE marked and built under ISO 13485. Compare the full range in the grid below.
Band Seating and Archwire Adjustment
Band seating and archwire work sit at opposite ends of the appointment. A band seater transmits force from the operator or the patient's own bite down onto the band margin, so the working end has to grip the band without slipping off it: serrated and textured tips do that job through different surface treatments, and the choice is a matter of feel rather than of function. Orthodontic Band Seater is supplied with a serrated tip across 17.5cm, 18cm and 20cm lengths, and in a textured stainless steel pattern. Mershon Band Pusher covers the same seating task with a pusher head rather than a seating platform.
Archwire adjustment needs a different geometry entirely. Distal Bender turns the distal end of the wire behind the molar tube so it cannot slide forward and irritate soft tissue, and it is supplied in two tube sizes matched to wire dimension: 0.55mm for 0.022″ wire and 0.75mm for 0.030″. We supply every pattern at MOQ 1.
Ligature, Adhesive Removal and Dual-Ended Patterns
Ligature and adhesive work close the sequence. Elastic Ligature Applicator carries elastomeric modules onto the bracket wings without the fingers entering the field, and Ligature Instrument handles wire ligatures, tucking the twisted end away from the mucosa. Both are chosen on tip profile rather than length, because the working end has to reach between adjacent brackets.
Adhesive removal has its own blade geometry. Adhesive Remover is supplied both as a general pattern and with a 6.35mm blade, the width determining how much of the bracket base footprint is addressed in one pass. Dual-ended instruments combine two of these steps on one shaft: Band Pusher Clamp Adhesive Remover pairs the two functions across four working-end widths from 2.5mm to 3.9mm, and Band Pusher Clamp Schure Scaler pairs a pusher with a scaler profile. Fewer instrument exchanges means fewer interruptions in a chairside sequence that repeats at every adjustment visit.
Material, Reprocessing and Certification
Every pattern is manufactured from German stainless steel and passivated for corrosion resistance across repeated cycles. The inspection point on orthodontic hand instruments is the working end under magnification, because these tips are small enough that wear is invisible at arm's length: check serrated and textured seating surfaces for flattening, since a smoothed tip slips off the band margin under load; check adhesive remover edges for rounding or nicks; check ligature tip profiles are intact and unbent; and on distal benders confirm the tube is clear and undeformed, because a distorted tube will not accept the wire it was sized for. Clean immediately with a neutral-pH enzymatic solution, brushing into serrations and tube openings, then rinse with deionised water and dry fully, following the reprocessing instructions supplied.
