Straight Mayo scissors suit surface cutting, sutures and dressings, while curved Mayo scissors reach into confined spaces for deeper dissection of tissue layers — the blade profile follows how deep the cut needs to go. Ring handles and semi-blunt tips are common to both, letting the surgeon probe tissue planes without the sharp point catching where it shouldn't.

Blade Material and What Each Solves

Three blade specifications separate these scissors, and each answers a different cutting problem. Standard stainless steel suits general dissection where edge life is not the constraint.
