Oral surgery is a procedure that involves the success of extraction of mandibular teeth, which is dependent upon the capability to exert a deep, gentle pressure on the root bifurcation. The Extracting Forceps Fig. 22R is a special instrument designed specifically for lower right molars as well as the third molars.1 Its unique anatomical structure and advanced gripping capabilities make it an essential tool for handling complicated posterior extractions.
The "R" in Fig. 22R indicates its right-side particularity. In contrast to universal forceps, their beaks in the 22R have been designed to be shaped to match the particular anatomy of the buccal and lingual parts that are found in the lower molars of the right. They are made with pointed tips that fit securely into the furcation of the molar roots, thereby providing the stability required to support the buccal and lingual "rocking" motion needed to increase the size of the socket.
One of the biggest issues in molar extraction is instrument slippage. This could result in soft injury to the tissues or even a fracture of the crown. 2 Our Figure. 22R is a model with deep serrated beaks that provide:
To handle the powerful force required to extract sturdy lower molars, as well as the third molars, impacted Forceps are constructed out of high-quality Stainless Steel.
Feature Details
Model Number Fig. 22R
Primary Use Lower Right Molars & Third Molars (Wisdom Teeth)
Tip Type Pointed, Deeply Serrated for Furcation Grip
Material High-Grade Medical Stainless Steel
Orientation Right-Side Specific
The Fig. 22R is especially effective in extracting third molars (wisdom teeth) which are fully erupted, or at least partially accessible. Its ability to engage the bifurcation of the root is superior to flat-beaked forceps, which allows for a more precise and less painful extraction.
