Eye surgery, commonly referred to as ophthalmic or ocular surgery, is an operation carried out on the eye or its adnexa by an ophthalmologist. Eye surgery is associated with ophthalmology. The eye is an extremely delicate organ that needs extra caution at every step of surgery before, during, and after.  An ophthalmologist, diagnoses, and treats all eye disorders and conducts eye surgery. They also recommend and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses to alleviate visual issues.

  • Scissors, such as iris scissors, are used to cut the outside of the cornea or iris or to perform intraocular maneuvers on deeper, more fragile tissues. Westcott stitch scissors, vannas capsulotomy scissors, and Westcott tenotomy scissors are also included.

Ophthalmic treatments, in particular, employ advanced surgical equipment including Piere micro scissors, corneal segment scissors, and others. Electrical or air-driven powered surgical tools are also used during surgery.
