Peak Surgicals offers artery forceps for grabbing and squeezing an artery to reduce bleeding, often with handles that may be kept in place by a locking mechanism. The opposing teeth engage and interlock as the artery forceps are closed, keeping the handles adducted and the jaw surfaces clamped at all times. To make handling easier, artery forceps include finger loops.

The thumb and middle or ring fingers often clasp the finger loops, while the index finger helps steady and guide the instrument.
