Why Tips Stick, and What Non-Stick Changes
Tissue adheres to bipolar tips because heat concentrates at the electrode face during coagulation, carbonising tissue against the metal; non-stick tips disperse that heat faster, so char forms less readily and the tips release cleanly. Pulling a stuck tip away avulses the coagulum and reopens the vessel — the surgeon then coagulates the same bleeder twice.
The practical cost is interruption. A sticking tip has to be wiped, and in a long procedure that is dozens of pauses at the moment control matters most. Non-stick patterns reduce that cycle, which is why they are chosen for neurosurgical, microsurgical and ophthalmic work where the field is small and every withdrawal risks the coagulation just made. Straight, Bayonet and the European Pin Standard

The European designation is a connector standard, not a finish. European pin forceps mate with generators wired to that standard; a USA-pin instrument will not seat in a European-pin socket. Reprocessing, Insulation and Certification
Non-stick tips reduce char but do not eliminate cleaning. Wipe tips during use as needed, and ultrasonic-clean before autoclaving so residue does not bake onto the working face across cycles. Insulation is the safety-critical inspection: a breached shank coating routes current into tissue it was never meant to reach, so check insulation integrity on a regular cycle rather than only on failure. Watch for scissoring too tines that no longer meet flatly coagulate unevenly regardless of tip finish.
