Unyielding Grip: Kocher Hemostatic Forceps 14cm Curved (Fig. 2)

In surgical procedures that require difficult, dense or high-tension tissues, the standard hemostats might be unable to function properly. This is why the Kocher Hemostatic Forceps (14cm Curved, Figure 2)--also called the Kocher-Ochsner forcep becomes an essential instrument. The Kocher is specifically designed to facilitate "aggressive" grasping. The Kocher is the tool that is used when the need for a secure, non-slip grip is more crucial than preservation of the tissue.

The Power of the 1x2 Toothed Tip

The main characteristic of this Kocher forcep is the 2 teeth that interlock located at the top of its jaws. As other hemostats, such as those of the Pean and Kelly, rely only on serrations, the Kocher includes the mechanical "bite."

  • Anti-Slippage Teeth lock to each other through the tissue and ensure that even the strongest muscles or fascia do not slip out of the jaws.
  • Firm Occlusion . These are designed to clamp dense, heavy vessels or dense tissue bundles in which a "crushing" grip is required to ensure complete hemostasis.

The Fig. 2 curvature at 14cm provides the ideal balance of strength and access. The curve enables surgeons to access anatomical structures and deep cavities while keeping the surgeon's view towards the site of surgery.

Material Excellence: Medical-Grade Stainless Steel

Instruments that are precision can only be as great as the metal they're constructed from. The Kocher forceps are made from premium Stainless Steel, with the following features:

  • Structural Rigidity Steel is heated to keep the jaws from "scissoring" or bending when pressing down on the ligaments or bone-adjacent tissues.
  • Superior durability: Resistant to the damaging effects of saline, blood and repeatedly high-heat sterilization (autoclaving).
  • A Smooth Surface: The satin or polished finish makes sure that the instrument is simple to maintain and easy to use through long-term procedures.

Key Clinical Applications

Kocher 14cm Curved is a Kocher 14cm Curved tool is a multi-functional "heavy-duty" tool used across many specialties:

  1. General Surgery . It is ideal for grasping and grabbing the fascia or peritoneum during the closure of abdominal incisions.
  2. Orthopedics Most often, they are used to keep ligaments, tendons or periosteum for bone repair.
  3. Gynecology . It is essential for clamping uterine ligaments, or vascular pedicles, in hysterectomies.
  4. Trauma Surgery Holding in place tissues that stabilize or fix bone ends fractured in the event of an emergency intervention.

Important Usage Note

Due to the teeth that are 1x2, Kocher forceps are considered traumatic. They should be utilized primarily on tissues to be removed, or on hard structures such as skin and fascia. They are typically not advised for organs that are delicate, such as the intestines, lungs or the fine nerves.
