Peak Surgicals has a great variety of plastic surgery tools. Our surgical chisels, gouges, and osteotomes for used in the operating room during orthopedic surgery, ENT operations, and neurosurgery procedures. The tip of the chisel is beveled on one side, but the tip of an osteotome is beveled on either side. To dissect or cut the bone, osteotomes and chisels are employed. Different lengths and tip diameters are available.

What are chisel and osteotomes used for in surgery?

A surgeon with knows how to use a chisel and mallet can extract third molars in the same amount of time or faster than they could with a handpiece. A chisel and mallet are less expensive to buy and maintain than a handpiece; therefore, this method is also cost-effective. The tip of a chisel is beveled on one side, but the tip of an osteotome is beveled on the two sides. To cut or separate the bone, osteotomes and chisels are employed. Different tip diameters and lengths are available.
